Shopify App CLI Tool: In November 2019, we announced the beta release of the Shopify App CLI, a command line tool designed to help developers build apps by generating app code and automating some app development processes. The Shopify App CLI tool is designed to help you be more productive on our platform by accelerating app development.

Since the beta release, we have been hard at work on the CLI tool to make it more reliable and easier to install on various platforms, including the original Windows 10.

The Shopify App CLI tool simplifies the app development process by removing many of the hurdles you might encounter when launching a new app. When you type Shopify create in the Terminal, you will be asked what type of app you want to create. You will have a choice: create an application with a Node.js backend and a React or Ruby on Rails interface.
